J.C. Ryle on Practical Religion

“Do nothing that you would not like God to see.
Say nothing you would not like God to hear.
Write nothing you would not like God to read.
Go no place where you would not like God to find you.
Read no book of which you would not like God to say, 'Show it to Me.'

Never spend your time in such a way that you would not like to have God say, "What are you doing?”

  1. Psalm 139 comes to mind, O Lord, You have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You discern my thoughts from afar. You are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue , behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence?

We are transparent before the Lord, He knows every where we are, when we are the there, who we are with, what our thoughts are even before we have formed them!

O Lord forgive me for the scarlet person that I am before you. Cleanse me, wash me and give me a pure heart.

J.C. Ryle has reminded us just how exposed our lives are before the very God who made us, in His own image, let this remind us that every thought, every motive of our heart, every deed of our bodies needs to be pure because God is with us, He is watching, He is our loving Father who cares for us, cries for us and cheers for us.

Thank You Father that You are even mindful of us, filthy rags that we are. Keep writing Candy, it matters! Debbi

  2. What a comfort and security to know He watches over each of us as especial and precious treasures.
